Does anyone else get bored easily of their interiors and fancy a change-up but you never really know where to start or sometimes don’t have the money to completely re-do a room?
Well I wanted to share what I’ve recently done to spruce up my bedroom a little and make it feel a bit loved again. With the help of some sale shopping, DIY and my brilliant mum for helping me make some scatter cushions.
If you follow me on instagram you will know I have a bit of an obsession with spots and dalmatian print. My bedroom was previously nude and grey with dalmatian print and rose gold accessories.
I got a little bit bored of it to be honest and although I wanted to keep the spotty print, I decided to take out the blush pink and rose gold and swap it for grey and gold. There’s just something about gold and brass that I just love, and I feel like it goes with so many colour themes and adds a nice elegant modern look to any room.
I started off with buying some new prints. What I love about my IKEA picture shelf is that I can change it up whenever I want, rather than having loads of holes in the wall as that’s not a good look. I found loads of gorgeous prints on the House Outfit they have some beautiful prints and start off at only £5-8 and I personally love the A5 size as I can use them more for small spaces rather than the A4 and bigger sizes.
I decided to order a few A5 prints, I went for the Dalmatian obviously… Dots vs Grey, Tribe, Grey black and gold but I have got my eye on a few more especially the leopard print ones, they have so many to choose from I couldn’t decide.
Another favourite of mine for prints is slay my print they also have a fantastic selection of prints that are really affordable. And that’s where my other prints are from in this photo.
I think adding some new art has really finished this room off nicely.
I have been on the hunt for these plant stands for some time now as I think they look really modern and is a nice way to add some greenery especially for beginners like me. I’m not good with real plants so I definitely prefer artificial so that I wont kill them.
I picked up the trailing plants from IKEA as I love IKEA plants, they’re so cheap and good quality. I also love it when they look real and not really fake. I prefer using these trailing ones for putting on shelves and in taller pots.
The gold pot and stand I got from matalan and if you don’t know already matalan have a gorgeous home department that I don’t think people really notice but I get a lot of my home stuff from there.
The black stands are from dotmaison and they’re the ferm living range. I had my eye on these for a while as they are pretty pricey for just a stand, you have to buy the pots separately but I luckily managed to get these in the sale which I was happy about and then I got the grey pots from IKEA.
I love storing random bits and junk in nice pretty things. I recently picked up the grey wooden wicker baskets from Dunelm in the sale, they were a bargain and I’m really regretting not getting a couple more. The tin I already had which was from Dotmaison.
I also love keeping all my fancy boxes and bags for bits too. I’m currently using my GUCCI box for random bits and bobs. I know it’s a bit boujee but I love re using and displaying them.
I also added this cute little grey and gold shelf that I got in the sale from Maisons Du Monde It was only about £10 and I absolutely love it and think it finished off this wall nicely. I added this print and the grey pots which are from HM home.
I wanted to get a nice mirror for this wall and to sit above the shelf. I couldn’t decide what style I originally wanted but ended up going for a large round brass mirror.
I purchased the set of 3 mirrors from Maisons Du Monde as I thought it was really unusual and the fact they looked like spots. I just need to decide where I’m going to put them.
Mirrors are a really good way of making a room look bigger, and bouncing off light. I was struggling on what to do with this small area as my room isn’t massive but I knew I wanted something on this wall that’s why I decide to go for the mirror and mini shelf underneath, and I’m so happy with how it looks.
Fabric and furnishings
And lastly I changed up some cushions and other furnishings. I recently got some spotty fabric from IKEA so my mum could make me some cushions for Elliott’s bed. She ended up making me some scatter cushions for my own bed and also a new lamp shade. I love the way its finished off this room. She’s also making me some matching curtains that I’m really excited about as it will go perfect with my bedding. So I will keep you updated on those and how they turn out.
I hope you found this post interesting as I’m really looking forward to posting more home content. I know this style isn’t for everyone but I honestly love it as I can change it up every so often and accessorise a lot of colours in with it. I like to keep my bedding and curtains quite neutral so that I can add colour in elsewhere. I’m actually on the hunt for new spotty or printed bedding so if anyone has any recommendations please do let me know.
Down below I will list some of my favourite stores where I like to shop for home accessories.
