Shimmer Glow sprays are all the rage right now, summer is fast approaching and everyone is loving the extra glow.
MAC has recently come out with their own as well as Iconic London, I have both and have done a review on them here
I wasn’t very impressed with the MAC ones but I have loved the Iconic prep set glow spray and have used it every day since I got it, the shade is gorgeous and it gives the most radiant dewy glow to the skin, it’s a must if you love being extra dewy and glowy.
I would definitely re purchase the Iconic one and still recommend you pick it up to try for yourself but I wanted a do a little post on creating your own unique DIY shimmer glow spray.
I’ve have seen a few videos going round with people making their own MAC shimmer fix plus with pigments that looked amazing, so I wanted to give it a go myself but using more affordable options.
What you will need
Any primer water, setting spray or hydrating face spray which you prefer
pigments or crushed highlighter
Mini spatula or spoon
I decided to go with the Primark priming water, which is supposedly a dupe for the Smashbox priming water, this is only £2 so a total bargain and more affordable than MAC fix plus. I dug out all my favourite pigments, these are much easier to use than crushing up your own highlighter but obviously use whatever you have.
These are the pigments I used but I have since made another one just using the Primark nude shimmer dust which looked just as gorgeous and nearly identical to the Iconic spray.
But for this one pictured I used 2 spoonfuls of Kylie cosmetics ultra glows in Fiji, and Santorini as well as 2 more little spoonfuls of the Primark nude shimmer dust and the Primark loose highlighter in vacation.
Then shake it all up and watch the magic, it looks so pretty, just having these displayed on your vanity is gorgeous enough.
I love using these to spray on the face before makeup application, as well as spraying this on my beauty blender and applying to my cheek bones, it gives the most natural glow it is so beautiful. These are also lovely to spray on your body, especially the legs, shoulders and collar-bone.
I think this is such a good way to create your own customised shimmer spray especially for your own skin tone, I bet these will be gorgeous with a nice bronze or gold pigment.
Just look at that shimmer, and it is pretty much identical to the Iconic original prep set glow spray. Don’t get me wrong they both have completely different ingredients so they aren’t an exact dupe or anything, the Iconic one has more of a fragrance as it has skin care ingredients, like cucumber, chamomile, and green tea.
I just love primer and setting sprays, they’re one of my makeup bag must haves, so this is even better that it adds a nice radiant glow. These sprays are perfect for hydrating the skin and refreshing it throughout the day.
Have you made your own spray or will you be trying it for yourself, let me know. 🙂
