Kylie cosmetics has been a brand that has had a lot of mixed reviews, I have done lots of posts myself on Kylie cosmetics as I have a lot of her products, but after trying KKW beauty at the end of last year I was pleasantly surprised. I think Kylie’s lip products will always be one of my favourite products of hers as I love her lip kits and velvets and I do have a few other limited edition products I love like the ultra glows and wet set palette but the last few times I have ordered from Kylie I have been let down plus her recent collections have been pretty bad if I’m honest they look so cheap and just not very thought out.
I had noticed from reviews and videos I’ve seen on Kylie’s latest collections how the quality has changed and she’s not very consistent with the formulas of her products, my last two orders didn’t even show up either which was an absolute nightmare, luckily I got refunded but it’s definetly put me off order anything else from her anytime soon.
But yet everything I have ordered from KKW beauty recently I have loved, the products are very much what everyone is wanting and loving right now, like the baking powders and concealer kits seem to be very popular. And the products I have are such good quality I haven’t felt let down by any of it and the products actually arrived as well.
I personally think Kylie needs to really work on her products and not rush so many collections, I feel like everything is just repacked products and not even the packaging is that pretty anymore. But that’s just my take on it anyway.
KKW x Mario collection
I want to talk more about the KKW x Mario collection in this post though because I haven’t stopped using it since I got it, another reason I’m loving KKW over Kylie, the quality of this collection is actually amazing, the shadows are so pigmented and blend out lovely, I didn’t have any issues what so ever using this palette and was actually really impressed.
I love Mario, for those who don’t know who he is he’s Kim’s makeup artist so I knew this collection wouldn’t disappoint as I love all the looks Mario does on Kim, I totally knew I would end up buying this collection before I even saw what it was. It contains an eye shadow palette with 10 shades including matte an shimmer, a creme lip stick and two lip glosses.
I already love the KKW glosses as I got the ultralight beams at the end of last year and these glosses are exactly the same, not sticky or thick and they don’t have a fragrance either which is nice for people who maybe don’t like fragranced products. The lipstick is definitely the stand out product in this lip collection, I wasn’t that blown away when I first saw it as I thought it looked really peachy, but on the lips it looks so gorgeous it is a lovely neutral beige with a hint of peach. I have been using it nonstop since I got it, I’m a little bit gutted its limited edition actually as I really want to buy another one. I normally only wear matte lipsticks so I wasn’t sure what to expect from a creme finish but wow its amazing, so creamy and pigmented, I only need one swipe it’s that opaque and it is so comfortable on the lips as well. I’m really hoping Kim decides to bring out more lip products because I will definitely be buying them.
Super nude looks so gorgeous over the top of darker lipsticks, and juicy is a lovely spring summer shade, it looks quite coral toned here but its a pinky peach. Classic k is a neutral beige with peach tones.
The eye shadow palette is definitely what everyone was going mad for, the shades are very me as well and the shimmers are amazing quality without even having to use fix plus etc, you can even use them as highlighters. Just look at the swatches of the palette, the shades are beautiful, I didn’t think I would ever want to try out a blue shadow before as it’s not very me but this one is definitely a favourite of mine in this palette.
The bundle cost $85 with a saving of $16 so that basically covered my custom fee I had to pay as that is one of the annoying things about ordering from both Kylie and KKW you always get custom fees. But I actually loved the fact Kim did a bundle and it was a really good price, I know with Kylie’s bundles in the past I have never actually saved anything it’s just been easier way or order everything.
You might be wondering why I’m constantly comparing them and obviously its because they’re both sisters and their makeup is both produced by seed beauty, and thought their makeup line would be identical and pointless but I definitely think Kim is killing it at the moment with her products and I can’t wait to see what she brings out next. I think a lot of people and me included fall for the hype with Kylie cosmetics because its Kylie Jenner, you expect the products to be amazing quality for the price but some really aren’t.
Did you pick up the KKW x Mario collection? and let me know your thoughts on both these brands.
