I am a huge lover of MAC fix + and have used it for years, the scented ones are definitely my favourite but I was very excited about these new shimmer ones launching, I had to get them as I love anything glowy and dewy looking and these definitely got my attention when I first saw pictures.
They have pinklite and goldlite to choose from, each one is pretty obvious with the shade description, I ordered both as like I said I love anything like this and couldn’t work out what shade I wanted, but I knew I would use them regardless. As I love using Fix + to refresh my skin after applying powder, or spraying my brushes to intensify pigment.
They arrived a couple of weeks ago and I was testing them out, I even showed my first impressions on Instagram stories, I straight away loved the packaging. I was a little surprised to see it looked more of a milky texture than the normal fix +, and the shimmer/pigment was all at the bottom, you have to make sure you shake these well before use, so it all mixes up, I wasn’t blown away with these though, the pink one is very subtle, I definitely noticed the pigment more in the goldlite than the pinklite and they wasn’t as intense as I was expecting either. The shades are very much like the strobe creams, iridescent/holographic. Which again I was a bit meh about as I’m kind of over that if I’m honest I was hoping for more of like a true gold/champagne or rose gold type of pigment.
I think if you’re a big MAC fan and love fix +then you will still probably want to get these, I would definitely recommend testing them out in store first to see what you think, as I was a little disappointed, overall they just wasn’t what I was expecting or hoping for and you can hardly notice any big difference in shimmer or a radiant glow on my face or body when I’ve used these which is a shame, If I had to suggest one to maybe try it would be goldlite as the pigment is a little more noticeable in that one, and I was expecting this one to be my least favourite.
I really loved the idea of these but to be honest I think you can make your own version and it would be much better, you can use any type of setting spray or face mist, it doesn’t have to be fix +, and just add a bunch of pigments until you have the colour you’re happy with. I recently did this with my superdrug vitamin E face spray and it turned out amazing.
I have also purchased the new Iconic London prep-set-glow mist which is exactly what I wanted these mac ones to be like, it’s a gorgeous pinky shade, and actually makes the skin look radiant and dewy, it’s going to perfect for summer.
Just look at the difference in shimmer and pigment between the MAC and Iconic one, plus you get more product in the Iconic one and its cheaper.
Will you be picking these up? if you love Fix + and a subtle shimmer then you might actually like this, for me its a fail which I’m gutted about, but hey it is a risk you take when ordering online and falling for the hype.
