If you have Facebook then I’m sure you would have seen this Hair iron all over your Facebook feed, I Know I did which is what made me intrigued to try this. All my friends and family were tagging me in the TYME page videos, (they know I love curling my hair so much) and the videos made this iron look so easy to use and the finished results were amazing!! we all know a lot of these videos make things look easy but actually aren’t when it comes to trying them out ourselves.
I was lucky enough to get sent this to review but I was actually going to buy it myself I was that impressed with the reviews and videos I had seen, so as always my review will be completely honest.
The TYME Style Iron
What is the TYME iron?! Well Not only is this iron so stylish and so blogger I might add, it’s also really smart, I havent seen a hair tool like it! The good thing about this is it’s not just a curling iron but it can also be used to straighten hair as well, the perfect all in one tool, some of you might think you can do that with any hair straightener but I personally think this gives nicer curls which last longer than any straightener I’ve used, but more on that later. 🙂
You will notice that this iron has an unsual shape to any other iron and that’s because each side creates different styles, the brown guideline side curls and the flat side straightens hair, it might sound a little confusing but I promise as soon as you hold these in your hand you will pick it up straight away.
The iron is a set temperature of 204 Celsius / 400 Fahrenheit
Gold plated titanium plates
Rotating Swirl cord with UK plug!
Comes with thick heat protective sleeve.
I’m going to try to explain the best I can, I know It would be so much easier to show a Video. One of my goals this year is to start youtube I need to get over my fears and just do it but in the meantime I hope this post is enough to get across how great this iron really is.
How to use
Because of the shape and the guidelines I would recommend having a play around with them before hand, just to get a feel of how to hold them.
If you’re right handed I don’t think you will have any issues with these as the instructions and videos are really simple and easy to follow, but because I’m left handed it took me a little while to master them as I have to hold them slighty differently. Just remember if you’re curling your hair the brown guidelines always have to be closer to your scalp, which should mean the TYME iron logo is facing the mirror, you then have to slighty twist or rotate and glide the iron towards the mirror, while gliding them through the hair with light pressure (no need to pull or tug at the hair ) just let the iron glide if you have thin hair glide faster, if your hair is thicker glide slower and you should have a perfect curl. If you’re right-handed your thumb position should be behind the on button.
If you’re left handed like me I’ve found that holding the iron in my left hand completely vertical with the TYME iron logo facing the mirror and then I always rotate outwards and away from my head, which gives me the best results and I do this on both sides, I find keeping them vertical works best for me although some videos I’ve seen others like to hold them at an angle, to be honest I say whatever works for you. I don’t think you have to do exactly what the instructions say, Play around and see what works best for you. I think how much you twist or rotate the iron and also the angle you hold the iron at will determine what results you get. (If you go onto the TYME website there is so many helpful videos all about using this iron)
what I love is the fact TYME offer a free TYME STYLE session which is a live skype or facetime session with one of the TYME stylists, which is such a fantastic idea, it really shows they want people to love and understand their product. I actually had one booked myself but something come up so we had to cancel last minute but the girls I have been speaking to are so helpful with any issues I’ve had I can’t fault the customer service.
It only took me a couple of attempts to get to grips with it but now I have it’s completely easy and I’ve got to say super fast, it really does save me loads of tyme! (see what I did there?) I would spend at least 30/40 mins curling all my hair in the morning but now it only takes be about 15 minites if not less. Which is great as sometimes I am really rushing around but want to still curl my hair.
I absolutely love the curls and waves it gives me and they last all day! I actually find my curls are lasting even when I’m sleeping with my hair down which never happens with any other iron I’ve used.
How I’m holding the iron in the first picture is how I use them, I always hold them vertical and then glide outwards towards the mirror.
Each time I’ve used them I have got different end results and that’s because of the angle or how much im rotating the iron, its definitely worth playing around and seeing all the different styles you can create with it, whats even better is its great for all hair types and length.
Here is another picture I took on a different day, again my curls look slighty different, (excuse my hair it needed toning)

great for all hair types
No heat dial or setting
I definitely have more pros than cons, but I will give more details on why I’ve said these are cons.
The iron has a set Temp of 204c which I find a little bit too hot for me personally, I think having a temperature control dial is a must on any heat styling tool, although I have thick hair mine is very dry at the ends as I bleach it so I would like the option to control the temperature as I would use it at about 180c at least. But TYME do explain on their website why the iron has a set temperature but I still would love to see a Temp control in the future.
Also the reason I’ve said guidelines is because mine have already started to rub off which I’m a bit gutted about as I’ve used them about 7 times and I always place the iron down on the guidelines which you’re supposed to do. I know its not the end of the world but I think they can be improved a little so they don’t rub off so easy.
But overall I am really impressed with these and I have been using them nonstop, if you follow me on social media you will know I’ve been talking about these a lot. So yes I would definitely say this is worth the money when you think of how much other heat styling tools cost.
