Blemish & Spot Treatments

19th June 2016

Lets talk about dreaded spots, We all get them right?!! and if you don’t can I just say I envy you!!

When I was a teenager I never suffered  with spots I was always the lucky one in my group and would rarely get one, well I think its payback now as I’m nearly 25 and I feel like a teenager all over again. I’m not talking about the odd one either I’m suffering so bad lately and what might not be a lot to some they’re really getting me down and making me feel really rubbish about myself, so I’ve been on the hunt for some good spot treatments and I literally feel like I’ve tried and tested them all, so today I want to talk about what I’ve used and if I would recommend them.

spot16

Now I don’t have acne by any means but I have been getting more than I ever have over the past year, mostly on my chin with red inflammation and a little scaring but I like to think, well hope that red inflammation will eventually go.  I normally get them around that time of the month (TMI I know but we are all girls here right?? and I want this post to be helpful so you need a back story lol) anywayyy I just can’t seem to get rid of one before another one appears and I just hate the way my makeup applies as these treatments really dry out the skin and I just end up feeling really rubbish about myself, so I’m finally trying to do something about it! I have no idea if it’s because I wear more makeup now days or if it’s my diet I’m definitely looking into cutting out certain foods especially dairy! I’m also thinking of going to see a Dermatologist especially for the redness.

I’m actually getting pretty good at covering them up with my trusty green concealer but I know they’re still there and I feel like when people are talking to me they are secretly looking at it, I HATE THAT! LOL

So basically this list is what I have tried and tested it’s a lot I know  (By the way my skin is dry and sensitive not oily!)

  • freederm Gel
  • Witch blemish stick (contains witch Hazel)
  • Tea tree oil
  • Mario Badescu drying lotion (contains Calamine, Salicylic acid, zinc)
  • T zone gel (contains Tea tree/ Witch hazel & Salicylic acid)
  • Perfectly clear calming gel (Salicylic acid)
  • Sudocrem (antiseptic healing cream)
  • Acnecide 5% gel (benzoyl peroxide)
  • Cucumber
  • Manuka Honey
  • Aspirin face mask
  • Glamglow supermud mask
  • Glycolic Masks
  • Cleansers and toners

I’ve literally tried everything  from over the counter to home remedies that’s been recommend to me I’ve even been on google trying to find some remedies which is why and how I came across trying Manuka honey and aspirin face masks. when I start to think something is working I’m back to square one. So I’m only going to quickly run through some of my favourites other wise I would be here all day.

Also please note this isn’t just stuff I’ve used over the past few weeks/months I’ve been using a lot of these regularly for years, And also what might work for me might not be the same for others.

spot10

Sudocrem: I’ve been using this for years for literally everything and this always used to work for my spots. As it’s an Antiseptic healing cream it should be perfect for spots right? if you have never tried it I recommend giving this a go everyone needs this in their cupboard!

spot17

Tzone: This is one I like as it contains all the main ingredients to fight spots, tea tree, witch hazel and salicylic acid! plus this was like a £1 from the pound shop so I felt like it was worth a shot and it’s actually not bad.

spot11

Tea Tree oil: This is the body shop oil but I have tried a few, my warning if you use this is just be careful as pure tea tree oil can burn the skin. This stuff used to always work for me but recently it hasn’t been doing the job, although I do still use it every now and then.

spot20

Acnecide: My most recent purchased that I’ve resorted to try, this is one that can be purchased at the pharmacy and is a little pricey, but I wanted to see if it worked, I started off with the 5% over the 10% as when I was reading up about this online I read some right horror stories and to be honest I was scared to put this on my face, But I started off with putting a tiny amount on, so far I really like this one, you have to be careful with fabric and stuff with this as it can bleach stuff. But like I said I Don’t suffer with acne but I have been getting the cyst like spots under the skin and I read that this stuff is good for that. So far I’m seeing a little difference but I’ve only been using it for about 2 weeks now, and luckily haven’t had any side effects like some have. Just remember to read all instructions before hand if you purchase this.

spot13

Mario Badescu Drying lotion: The famous spot lotion that the celebs rave about……urm Yeah sorry to say this did absolutely nothing for me, massive let down 🙁 I just feel like this dries and then crumbles straight off so it actually doesn’t have a chance to work, even just moving my face I noticed it was all down my top. I was praying this was going to be a miracle but it just didn’t work which was a shame.

spot18

Creightons Perfectly clear gel: I really like this one, again this was cheap and I think I found it in B&M for like £2 so thought it was worth a go, It says it calms the skin and speeds up the spot clearing process obviously I was sold, and this is still a regular treatment I reach for.

A couple of face masks I will mention is the GlamGlow supermud the white one which is a good clearing mask for the skin, I like to use this if my skin is breaking out a lot or if I’ve just been wearing a lot of makeup,  its nice to use for unblocking pores and just making the skin feel clean etc. I also like the Nip+fab kale mask which has minerals and witch hazel in to draw away impurities and the Superdug clearly youthful Glycolic peel off mask that claims to be  an anti blemish mask it contains Salicylic Acid and Glycolic Acid. I really like this one, it’s a thick gel that dries and then you just peel it straight off its so easy!

So that pretty much is it, let me know any skin care items including creams, toners, masks or spot treatmeants that you use and have actually worked for you? I would really love to check out some new prodcuts. 🙂

Thanks for reading. xo

Oh you must get some, it’s so cheap and can be used for absolutely everything ha ha. I actually haven’t used anything with Benzoyl in but that’s why I got the acnecide cream as that had 5% but I might actually purchase the 10% one next to try. It’s so frustrating when nothing works I just had how long mine take to clear up! Xo

Thank you Louise, I know most of these are so drying but as long as you use a good moisturiser and exfoliater it’s a little easier to manage, I use the cetaphil moisturiser and really like that. I will check out your blog now 🙂 xo

My Santa has been and John has only got me Dalmati My Santa has been and John has only got me Dalmatian print wrapping paper 😭 this could have been my present alone and I would have been thrilled! Love how it goes with my Dalmatian baubles 🤩 he knows me so well 🎁 🖤and it’s completely recyclable 👌🏼♻️
Just the presents to put under the tree, the annua Just the presents to put under the tree, the annual Christmas Eve clean up, set up the Christmas Day table and get myself sorted and pampered and we are all ready!! Can’t wait to just chill for a few days as Christmas always goes so quick doesn’t it. I Hope you all have a lovely Christmas whatever it is you will be doing 🎄 🎅🏻🤶🏻 🎁 🍾🥂 here’s some pictures of my tree with the lights on, it’s weird as these lights I got from the range look different each time I turn them on 🙈 I think I prefer my old ones from last year to be honest👀
I’ve been looking for dog harnesses and leads fo I’ve been looking for dog harnesses and leads for a while now as we wanted something new for the new additions we have. I got Elliott’s old ones from America and I just hadn’t seen anything I really loved until I came across @popandtedthreads and I fell in love with their whole range, especially the made to order personalised ones where you can pick your own fabric, trim and hardware colours. Of course I just had to have this monochrome Dalmatian print fabric😍🤩 I can’t believe they’re completely hand made, I’m so impressed with the quality and finish. You can tell a lot of hard work and love goes into these so thank you @popandtedthreads my little pups are going to love their new stuff for Christmas and will look so cute!! Thought I would share incase anyone else was looking for really unique dog accessories 🖤
I really wanted to change up this Christmas Wreath I really wanted to change up this Christmas Wreath this year and add some bits to it but I just haven’t had the time, not even put up half of my Christmas decorations that I wanted to. 😭 So I just added some more snow and glitter to this and have made do 🙈 honesty where has this year and month gone...it’s flown by and I’m not ready for Christmas in the slightest, got to finish my shopping tomorrow and wrap everything, do the food shop and have a good clean up in the house! Oh take me back to being a kid and being excited for Christmas ha ha! 🎅🏻🤶🏻🎄
Another job ticked off the list and one step close Another job ticked off the list and one step closer to finally finishing everything in the kitchen yay. 😊 I really wanted an antique mirror cooker splash back, it’s the reason I didn’t go for tiles in here and went for up-stands instead as I didn’t want it looking OTT and I definitely think less is more in the kitchen. This white antique glass was specially made and took about 6-8 weeks but I love it. 🤩You can really see the antique detailing up close (swipe for pic) although we have had some slight issues with the measurements on the boxing in area around the island which we also wanted in glass. A little disappointing, so that’s got to be sorted out but I’m hoping it will be done before Christmas 🤞🏻
I just love Christmas decor ☺️ everything feel I just love Christmas decor ☺️ everything feels so cosy 🎄✨I’m surprised I’ve got any chocolates and sweets left on my tables though, because my niece keeps trying to eat them all when she comes over 😂
Christmas tree reveal 🤩🌲🎄 Although I pret Christmas tree reveal 🤩🌲🎄 Although I pretty much showed it on my Instagram stories🙊swipe for lots more up close pics....it’s a bit of a weird one this year, as I’m not feeling Christmassy in the slightest yet, this tree and all the decorations were supposed to be for the new kitchen but that plan has gone out the window thanks to the two new puppies that have taken over my kitchen. So I’ve used all these bits for the living room instead. Sorry for my lack of posts, I’ve got a hell of a lot going on and I’m still not 100% myself. Details below •Christmas tree 🎄 - is the snowy alpine 6ft from @christmastreeworld and I am obsessed! It’s so gorgeous and full looking! •All the flowers and sprays - from @tonyalmondonline ( my best find this year for amazing affordable decorations) •other decorations from @therangeuk and my local garden centres @longacresbagshot & @oaktreegardencentre •made the Dalmatian baubles myself it was so easy •stocking holders @homesense_ukie and the fluffy stockings are from @ebay_uk
Can’t believe how many messages I’ve had about Can’t believe how many messages I’ve had about this when I posted it on my stories over the weekend🙈 I literally just wanted something to store all my hair styling tools so they didn’t look all messy and tangled. I ended up on eBay and found and ordered these wall mounted holders...I didn’t even know they did special dyson hairdryer holders but I had to have one! I sprayed mine gold (obviously) because I didn’t want them black or silver and attached them to the side of my Ikea Alex unit and I’m so pleased with how it looks ☺️ These GHDs are also yearsssss old but some how still work perfectly and I can’t part with them because they’re a gorgeous gold! 😭
Another side of my beauty/dressing room....I’ve Another side of my beauty/dressing room....I’ve always wanted a proper dressing area, somewhere I can get ready and have all my clothes and accessories to hand. Before I was going in 2/3 rooms just to find bits, as I had it all scattered around 🙈 So pleased I went with the ikea corner pax wardrobe and got very excited over the pull out tray for my jewellery and accessories. (It’s the little things)...I don’t need no fancy pretty hammonds wardrobe....Ikea will do me nicely 😂 My bags won’t be staying like this either as I need to get another shelf next time I go to Ikea. I originally thought I needed more rail space but turns out I don’t, I think I just liked the idea of these pull out rails 🤨
I recently switched my beauty room around, (if you I recently switched my beauty room around, (if you watch my stories you would have seen) So I now have the bigger spare bedroom for my beauty and dressing area yay! And I’m so pleased with it. 😍 I’ve got so much more room now and I had a good sort out and declutter while I was at it, and no more buying makeup I don’t need✋🏻 the Dalmatian spots won’t be going back on the wall but I’ve got use for them somewhere else 👀 I love Dalmatian print but I thought with my new Dalmatian rug it was a little over kill 😂
Got these faux fur Dalmatian cushions from next fo Got these faux fur Dalmatian cushions from next for the living room...didn’t like how they looked in here for some reason, as preferred my other ones🙈 so these are now on the sofa in John’s gaming room 😂 I’m wondering if he will notice that my dalmatian print obsession will slowly be taking over in that room too 👀🙊
I love me some gold and spotty print office statio I love me some gold and spotty print office stationery!! America have the best stuff, which I’m sorry to say is where most of this is from but I often see gorgeous bits in tkmaxx and Homesense. Now my desk is all clean and tidy I must get back to actually blogging and doing some work 👀✍🏻👩🏼‍💻
Never seen such gorgeous and unusual coloured pamp Never seen such gorgeous and unusual coloured pampas before. 😍 Absolutely love @foxglove.studio / @foxglove.studiothekiosk for their amazing selection of dried flowers and the service is always brilliant. These are like a grey/ silver tone and are absolutely beautiful and so fluffy. I’m hoping their website is up and running soon so I can browse and buy lots more 👀🤞🏻plus so many people keep asking me where all my dried flowers are from 🌾🌾
So happy I got these over the sofa side tables. I’ve had my eye on these for a while now and found them in my local tk maxx and they weren’t damaged for a change so I had to get them. They make the perfect side tables when you don’t have much room. 🖤
