Makeup Setting Sprays

16th March 2016

Now that its officially spring I want to talk all about the makeup product that every one and I mean everyone needs to get for that radiant dewy skin for spring/summer.

settling spray.jpg

I have a few as I love these for giving me that dewy fresh look, I’m going to share my favourites and why you need at least one of these in your makeup collection, although everyone has different skin types and some prefer a matte finish or a dewy finish there is a face spray for everyone.

now on to why these are a must have.

Here is just some of the uses and benefits from using face mist sprays and makeup setting sprays.

*you can spray before or after makeup application to hydrate the face (especially good in summer)

*Can be used on any skin type, as there is so many different ones you can buy

*helps set makeup so it lasts longer

*refreshes face and makeup throughout the day

*helps makeup from looking cakey and powdery

*spray on makeup brushes to help makeup application, especially good for foil eye shadows and highlighters. by doing this it really intensifies the highlight on your cheeks or the shimmer in you eye shadow

Those are just a few of the benefits of using face sprays but here are my favourites for my skin type which is dry and sensitive.

setting spray 22Mac fix plus has got to be my all time favourite and one that I will purchase over and over again, I am always buying the little travel size as its perfect to take away with me or put in my handbag.  I love this stuff so much that when MAC brought out the limited edition scented fix plus I had to get them. I got the coconut, Yuzu & rose, and they smell amazing I wish mac would think about making them permanent.

I use this for lots of things, its a light weight mineral mist that refreshes the skin and finishes makeup, although I can agree that it refreshes the face I cant say that it makes my makeup last any longer, a lot of people do get confused in thinking this is a setting spray as it gets marketed at that but I would say its more of a face mist.

I spray this all over my face after I’ve finished as it takes away that powdery look, I also love spraying my brush and using it to intensify my highlight and eye shadows. This is a favourite for so many people as its good for oily and dry skin types.

The full size is priced at £17

Next up is MACs charged water, this is underrated and often gets mixed up with fix plus, people think you only need one of these and not both but this is more for applying before makeup, its a refreshing, hydrating mist that replenishes skin and enhances makeup application and wear. Spray before makeup to create a dewy canvas or Re-apply as needed to replenish moisture or re-set makeup. I originally got this as I love anything that hydrates my dry skin, although I must be honest its often a product I forget to use,  depending on your preference you might not need both of these products as they can both be used before and after makeup application and both help hydrate my face. But my goal is to use this a lot more and really see if its more hydrating then the fix plus.

MACs charged water is £17.50 www.maccosmetics.co.uk

Mario Badescu Facial spray is a fairly new one I have purchased and I have only used it a couple of times so I cant give my full review yet but I will say this is a very popular product that gets raved about in the makeup community, again this is another refreshing hydrating mist that can be used on all skin types, it has aloe and rose water which claims to boost, hydrate and relieve dehydrated tight complexions. I want to use this a bit more before I give my honest feedback, But if you check out the reviews online for this you will see it’s very popular, I can’t wait to see what all the fuss is about with this facial spray.

Its priced at £5.95 on www.beauybay.com for 4fl oz

setting spray 14.jpg

Tatcha Luminous Dewy skin mist is on the more pricey side but it is one of my favourites, if you are very dry and want extremely dewy skin then this one is for you. I purchased this when I was in America and I originally wanted it as youtubers Jaclyn Hill and Kathleen Lights raved about this, I needed to see what the fuss was about and it didn’t disappoint.

This is basically a moisturiser in a bottle its a milky formula and although it is thicker in consistency it still sprays on the face like a mist, it has a nice smell to it and isn’t overpowering like some can be, this is great to use before makeup for a moisture boost it leaves skin feeling so soft and smooth and very hydrated, but it can also be used throughout the day to freshen up the skin or makeup, its mostly for dry or combination skin as it is very dewy, I cant see oily skin types liking this one unless you like that dewy look.

For that reason this one is another one of my favourites (top 3 for sure) also the packaging feels really luxurious and I love the purple and gold detail.

Tatcha Dewy mist is pricy and its hard to come across in the UK, it was one of the reasons I got it from America but Tatcha do deliver to the UK priced at $48 – £31  www.tatcha.com

setting spray 12.jpg

Another favourite with the beauty community, Pixi glow mist, this was another item I picked up in America along with the pixi glow tonic. This is again hydrating and moisturising,  a lot of these I purchased especially for my skin type, so sorry if I’m repeatin myself here.

Its enriched with an impressive 13 natural oils, the benefits include soothing, hydrating, refreshing, relieves redness and irritation while replenishing moisture, leaves face feeling soft, smooth and hydrated. Again this can be used  before makeup or on top of makeup throughout the day.

One thing I’m not keen on is the smell and I haven’t used it enough to say if its going to become one of my holy grail face sprays, this also has very good reviews online.

L’Oreal infallible fixing mist is a newish one I have come across for a drugstore fixing spray,  this is a setting spray rather then a face mist, Its meant to set and extend your makeup, anti melt & anti fade according to L’Oreal, for the UK this is one of the first  drugstore fixing sprays I have seen, I know the US have a lot but we aren’t so lucky, I have used this a few times now and the first time I used it I forgot to shake it so I was left with white spots all over my face it was a nightmare, as you can see it has a white powder laying at the bottom so it has to be shaken before use. for a drug store setting spray its not bad and only priced at £7.99 its a good one to get if you are just starting out in makeup or want to try a setting spray for the first time.

Lastly is the NYX dewy finish setting spray, this also comes in a matte version. NYX is an American drugstore brand but is a little harder for us to get here, although more places are starting to stock NYX now which is good.

Its a lightweight and comfortable setting spray that helps keep makeup in place, it pretty much does what it says, its affordable and does make the skin look dewy and fresh looking while keeping the makeup in place,  Its a good choice for the price and is one I would recommend on a budget, sometimes you don’t have to spend a fortune to get a good product and for that reason this one is included in my top 3.

Available from www.boots.com £7

Top 3 I would recommend and re purchase myself

MAC fix plus (my all time favourite which I think everyone needs)

Tatcha Dewy mist (a must for very dry skin)

NYX Dewy setting spray

So that was my collection, with having dry skin I love using a hydrating spray, anything that helps my face look less powdery and more fresh and radiant looking Is a must for me, I like looking more dewy in the summer months and now that summer is just around the corner I thought it was the perfect time to do this post, I hope I have helped anyone who was interested in buying any of these or was confused about the difference better them.

Here’s to looking glowy this summer girls!!

As as always thanks for reading

Fix plus I love the finish but hate the fact that it breaks me out. Loreal infallible mist is amazing. You didn’t mention Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray that’s another good one . I cant wait to get my hand on the Tacha spray I’ve heard such good things about it.

Love how it goes with my Dalmatian baubles 🤩 he knows me so well 🎁 🖤and it’s completely recyclable 👌🏼♻️
Just the presents to put under the tree, the annua Just the presents to put under the tree, the annual Christmas Eve clean up, set up the Christmas Day table and get myself sorted and pampered and we are all ready!! Can’t wait to just chill for a few days as Christmas always goes so quick doesn’t it. I Hope you all have a lovely Christmas whatever it is you will be doing 🎄 🎅🏻🤶🏻 🎁 🍾🥂 here’s some pictures of my tree with the lights on, it’s weird as these lights I got from the range look different each time I turn them on 🙈 I think I prefer my old ones from last year to be honest👀
I’ve been looking for dog harnesses and leads fo I’ve been looking for dog harnesses and leads for a while now as we wanted something new for the new additions we have. I got Elliott’s old ones from America and I just hadn’t seen anything I really loved until I came across @popandtedthreads and I fell in love with their whole range, especially the made to order personalised ones where you can pick your own fabric, trim and hardware colours. Of course I just had to have this monochrome Dalmatian print fabric😍🤩 I can’t believe they’re completely hand made, I’m so impressed with the quality and finish. You can tell a lot of hard work and love goes into these so thank you @popandtedthreads my little pups are going to love their new stuff for Christmas and will look so cute!! Thought I would share incase anyone else was looking for really unique dog accessories 🖤
I really wanted to change up this Christmas Wreath I really wanted to change up this Christmas Wreath this year and add some bits to it but I just haven’t had the time, not even put up half of my Christmas decorations that I wanted to. 😭 So I just added some more snow and glitter to this and have made do 🙈 honesty where has this year and month gone...it’s flown by and I’m not ready for Christmas in the slightest, got to finish my shopping tomorrow and wrap everything, do the food shop and have a good clean up in the house! Oh take me back to being a kid and being excited for Christmas ha ha! 🎅🏻🤶🏻🎄
Another job ticked off the list and one step close Another job ticked off the list and one step closer to finally finishing everything in the kitchen yay. 😊 I really wanted an antique mirror cooker splash back, it’s the reason I didn’t go for tiles in here and went for up-stands instead as I didn’t want it looking OTT and I definitely think less is more in the kitchen. This white antique glass was specially made and took about 6-8 weeks but I love it. 🤩You can really see the antique detailing up close (swipe for pic) although we have had some slight issues with the measurements on the boxing in area around the island which we also wanted in glass. A little disappointing, so that’s got to be sorted out but I’m hoping it will be done before Christmas 🤞🏻
I just love Christmas decor ☺️ everything feel I just love Christmas decor ☺️ everything feels so cosy 🎄✨I’m surprised I’ve got any chocolates and sweets left on my tables though, because my niece keeps trying to eat them all when she comes over 😂
Christmas tree reveal 🤩🌲🎄 Although I pret Christmas tree reveal 🤩🌲🎄 Although I pretty much showed it on my Instagram stories🙊swipe for lots more up close pics....it’s a bit of a weird one this year, as I’m not feeling Christmassy in the slightest yet, this tree and all the decorations were supposed to be for the new kitchen but that plan has gone out the window thanks to the two new puppies that have taken over my kitchen. So I’ve used all these bits for the living room instead. Sorry for my lack of posts, I’ve got a hell of a lot going on and I’m still not 100% myself. Details below •Christmas tree 🎄 - is the snowy alpine 6ft from @christmastreeworld and I am obsessed! It’s so gorgeous and full looking! •All the flowers and sprays - from @tonyalmondonline ( my best find this year for amazing affordable decorations) •other decorations from @therangeuk and my local garden centres @longacresbagshot & @oaktreegardencentre •made the Dalmatian baubles myself it was so easy •stocking holders @homesense_ukie and the fluffy stockings are from @ebay_uk
Can’t believe how many messages I’ve had about Can’t believe how many messages I’ve had about this when I posted it on my stories over the weekend🙈 I literally just wanted something to store all my hair styling tools so they didn’t look all messy and tangled. I ended up on eBay and found and ordered these wall mounted holders...I didn’t even know they did special dyson hairdryer holders but I had to have one! I sprayed mine gold (obviously) because I didn’t want them black or silver and attached them to the side of my Ikea Alex unit and I’m so pleased with how it looks ☺️ These GHDs are also yearsssss old but some how still work perfectly and I can’t part with them because they’re a gorgeous gold! 😭
Another side of my beauty/dressing room....I’ve Another side of my beauty/dressing room....I’ve always wanted a proper dressing area, somewhere I can get ready and have all my clothes and accessories to hand. Before I was going in 2/3 rooms just to find bits, as I had it all scattered around 🙈 So pleased I went with the ikea corner pax wardrobe and got very excited over the pull out tray for my jewellery and accessories. (It’s the little things)...I don’t need no fancy pretty hammonds wardrobe....Ikea will do me nicely 😂 My bags won’t be staying like this either as I need to get another shelf next time I go to Ikea. I originally thought I needed more rail space but turns out I don’t, I think I just liked the idea of these pull out rails 🤨
I recently switched my beauty room around, (if you I recently switched my beauty room around, (if you watch my stories you would have seen) So I now have the bigger spare bedroom for my beauty and dressing area yay! And I’m so pleased with it. 😍 I’ve got so much more room now and I had a good sort out and declutter while I was at it, and no more buying makeup I don’t need✋🏻 the Dalmatian spots won’t be going back on the wall but I’ve got use for them somewhere else 👀 I love Dalmatian print but I thought with my new Dalmatian rug it was a little over kill 😂
Got these faux fur Dalmatian cushions from next fo Got these faux fur Dalmatian cushions from next for the living room...didn’t like how they looked in here for some reason, as preferred my other ones🙈 so these are now on the sofa in John’s gaming room 😂 I’m wondering if he will notice that my dalmatian print obsession will slowly be taking over in that room too 👀🙊
I love me some gold and spotty print office statio I love me some gold and spotty print office stationery!! America have the best stuff, which I’m sorry to say is where most of this is from but I often see gorgeous bits in tkmaxx and Homesense. Now my desk is all clean and tidy I must get back to actually blogging and doing some work 👀✍🏻👩🏼‍💻
Never seen such gorgeous and unusual coloured pamp Never seen such gorgeous and unusual coloured pampas before. 😍 Absolutely love @foxglove.studio / @foxglove.studiothekiosk for their amazing selection of dried flowers and the service is always brilliant. These are like a grey/ silver tone and are absolutely beautiful and so fluffy. I’m hoping their website is up and running soon so I can browse and buy lots more 👀🤞🏻plus so many people keep asking me where all my dried flowers are from 🌾🌾
So happy I got these over the sofa side tables. I’ve had my eye on these for a while now and found them in my local tk maxx and they weren’t damaged for a change so I had to get them. They make the perfect side tables when you don’t have much room. 🖤
