2015 was definitely the year of highlighters, so many brands brought out some amazing highlighters from Jaclyn Hills collaboration with Becca Cosmetcs, MACs magic of the night collection with the very popular oh darling and Anastasia Beverly Hills gorgeous Illuminators to name just a few. Every time I saw a new highlighter coming out I just knew I had to have it, I’m all about that dewy glowing skin and highlighters are a staple in every girls makeup collection, now on to my collection I have.
*BECCA Champagne pop
*BECCA Jaclyn Hill Palette
*ABH so hollywood
*MAC oh Darling
*MAC shaft of gold
*Charlotte Tilbury bar of gold
*wet n wild Hollywood blvd
*Laura Geller gilded honey
*Gerard cosmetics Marilyn & Audrey
*the balm Mary lou Manizer
Now on to a couple of my favourites.
BECCA cosmetics is hands down my favourite brand, they have the best products for that natural looking glow, I’m not going to go into huge detail as I want to do a separate post on all my becca products, this is the Jaclyn hill champagne pop collaboration and its so beautiful, I picked this up in America last year but it has now been announced that its a permanent product now with becca YAY! I also know that cult beauty and space NK had this available in the uk . its such a beautiful highlighter and goes with so many skin tones, its the perfect amount of gold, pink and peach.
The Jaclyn hill palette was limited edition for the holidays and I got this for Christmas, it comes with pearl, champagne pop and blushed copper. I like to mix pearl and champagne pop together and also use pearl for my inner eye highlight and brow bone, blushed copper is more of a bronzer/blush topper as its a little dark for my skin tone.
Next up another one of my favourites is the Anastasia Beverly Hills illuminators, I picked up Starlight in America and so Hollywood on the cult beauty website.
So Hollywood is classed as a true gold & starlight is white gold.
I went with these two as starlight is recommended for pale complexions and I couldn’t pass up a gold highlighter, I love mixing these two together for the perfect shade, the gold also looks amazing when I’m wearing fake tan.
I’m really hoping we get the ABH glow kits in the UK soon, they look so gorgeous and good value too.
MAC oh darling was one of the most talked about highlighters of 2015, every one was saying it was a dupe for the famous whisper of guilt. I missed out on that highlighter a few years ago so I knew I had to get my hands on this one. I did miss out on getting this on the website so I made sure I was up bright and early and down at my local store for opening and managed to get 2 oh darlings and the other highlighter shaft of gold, I was so excited. I haven’t got whisper of guilt to compare but it is very similar to so Hollywood, Laura Geller gilded honey and kiko 208, so if you did miss out on this not to worry you can find something similar.
Laura Geller gilded honey
now this is such a stunning gold, it looks like a powder but glides on like a cream, i love using this with macs fix plus and it just looks amazing on the cheeks, like I said its similar to so Hollywood & macs oh darling. This is available on feel unique, Debenhams, cult beauty & beauty bay.
Now this highlighter might not look like much but its a little gem, I got this in America as its by wet n wild, it was a collection Fergie had with them and its called Hollywood blvd. its a baked highlighter and has 3 different shimmers, it can be used wet or dry but I prefer using it wet with my fix plus, its a gorgeous gold champagne highlighter and such a bargain for anyone on a budget, I would say its a very good dupe for the higher end gold highlighters.
I thought I would show these although I haven’t been getting on that well with them, I love Gerard cosmetics as a brand I have a few lipsticks and hydra matte lipsticks but these highlighters just come off really glittery and chalky, but I’m determined to make them work as they look so beautiful and the packaging alone is so cute and goes with my vanity.
Charlotte Tilbury bar of gold highlighter, this was one I was really looking forward to but was really disappointed when I saw it, I couldn’t believe how small it was in person to how it looked online, although it looks lovely I don’t agree on the price for how much product you get and also the packaging is made out of card. I don’t think this is a must have its very easily duped.
now I’m going to apologise as I’ve been trying all day to get some arm swatches of these highlighters but as I’m so pale they aren’t showing up on my skin 🙁
L-R So Hollywood, champagne pop, mary lou, mac oh darling, gilded honey.
here’s another one I got but they wasn’t showing up or I couldn’t get the perfect lighting, but don’t forget these will look different on everyone depending on skin tone, I am NW15 for reference.
So that’s all for my highlighter collection, like I said I will be doing a separate post showing all my becca products that will include opal, moonstone etc.
